Google Nest Wifi Pro router revealed: Wi-Fi 6E support, a single $ 199
Back in June, it was reported that Google was working on a new Wi-Fi 6 router, and now the name has leaked as the Nest Wifi Pro.
The device passed the US FCC certification over a month ago, and B&H now lists it as the "Google Nest Wifi Pro 6E router". The name may simply be "Google Nest Wifi Pro," and the product page confirms support for Wi-Fi 6E, the latest available connectivity standard, which can reach up to 9.6Gbps under ideal conditions.
"The core difference between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E is the third bandwidth range, which is between approximately 6GHz and 7GHz. In general, Wi-Fi 6E does not have a direct impact on the potential speed of a user's home/office network. Conversely, the 6GHz band is typically less crowded, which means that home devices are less likely to interfere with each other."
Google Nest Wifi Pro router revealed: supports Wi-Fi 6E and costs $199 individually
In terms of pricing, a single Nest Wifi Pro router costs $199, compared to $169 for the 2019 Nest Wifi router and $99.99 for the 2020 Google Wifi. Wi-Fi 5 on current Nest routers offers speeds of up to 2.2Gbps.
Available in a 2-pack for $299.99 and a 3-pack for $399.99, the Nest Wifi Pro router is available in Snow (white), Linen (light brown), Mist (light blue) and Lemongrass (light yellow/green). This color is consistent with the latest products such as the Pixel Buds Pro, Nest Doorbell (battery) and the upcoming Pixel 7.
The Nest Wifi Pro router also acts as a network extender and Google Assistant speaker.
The "Pro" naming scheme means that the existing Nest Wifi will continue to exist and follow the naming rules of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel Buds Pro products.
The Nest Wifi Pro router is expected to be announced alongside the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro and Pixel Watch at the Made by Google event on October 6.
