Microsoft releases Win11 25169 Dev version update, bringing "Theme Focus" and many other new features

By    1 Aug,2022

[Settings]

Settings now supports managing applications that were previously only supported in the Control Panel. This includes uninstalling applications that have interdependencies (for example, Steam and game applications running on Steam), fixing and modifying Win32 applications.

[Windows Security]

Windows Security application versions are now shown in the About Windows Security settings.

Problem fixes

[File Manager]

Fixed an issue that caused Azure Information Protection right-click menu items to unexpectedly display with the name Microsoft.Azip.RightClick after an upgrade.

[Taskbar]

Fixed a crash with explorer.exe that prevented the taskbar from loading when sometimes starting a Microsoft Teams session.

Fixed several explorer.exe crashes related to taskbar overflows encountered by some insiders.

[Start]

Fixes an issue with removing the "More" button from the Start recommendations section.

[Settings]

Fixed an issue where the text field could accidentally lose focus after using the Show Password button in the Wi-Fi section of Quick Settings.

[Input]

We've made some small tweaks to improve the key repetition rate of the traditional touch keyboard layout as well as the default touch keyboard layout to make it feel more responsive. It now has a rate of 20 keys per second (for example, when holding down the delete key).

[Other].

Fixed an issue that was believed to be the root cause of errors some testers were experiencing recently when opening and copying files from the "web".

Fixed an issue that could cause audio to be out of sync when recording games using the Xbox Game Bar.

Fixed an issue that caused error code 0x80004005 when using Network Troubleshooting.

Made some adjustments to fix an issue where the scrollbar in certain locations (such as File Explorer) became unexpectedly wide when using high DPI scaling.

Fixed an issue that was thought to be the root cause of Windows Security, where standard hardware security was not supported on devices that actually supported it, and where a warning was displayed in the taskbar but nothing was shown when Windows Security was launched. It is worth noting that due to scheduling, these issues may reappear after the next Windows security update. However it will go away again after some future Windows security update.

Known issues

[General]

We are investigating reports of SQL Server Management Studio not starting.

Some games that use Easy Anti-Cheat may crash or cause blue screen/error checking issues on your PC.

[File Manager]

The up arrow in the file explorer tab is not aligned. This will be fixed in a future update.

We are working to resolve reports that launching File Explorer in certain ways while using dark mode (e.g., from the command line) can unexpectedly display the body of File Explorer in normal mode.

[Widget]

Notification marker numbers may not align on the taskbar.

In some cases, the notification bar for certain markers would not appear on the widget board.

We are fixing an issue that caused widget preferences (Temperature Units and Fixed Widgets) to be accidentally reset to default settings.
