Apple Apple Watch Ultra disassembled, extremely difficult to recover

Apple's high-end sports smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra, reached users yesterday, and the watch has been disassembled by a 9to5mac editor, but he advises regular users to try not to do so, as it's extremely difficult to recover it.

Unlike the previous Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Ultra has four exposed screws on the bottom, which are four P5 round hole screws, the same as the ones on the bottom of the MacBook. After removing these four screws, the first problem arises, there is a very small O-ring around each screw. There is no doubt that this is for waterproofing. However, when the editor tried to screw the four screws back in, he found that in order to tighten them, the O-ring would partially slip out of the position it should be in, which would seriously affect the watch's water resistance.

The editor knew that some of the watch's water resistance might be affected at this point, but chose to continue disassembling it anyway. After unscrewing those screws, the only way to separate the ceramic back of the watch from the titanium case was to use a pry bar and thin spacers. Its seal was so good that the moment it was pulled apart, there was a thin waterproof layer that was broken. In addition, there are two thin ribbon-like cables that connect the back of the watch and all its health sensors to the battery, screen, processor and watch body. Care must be taken when separating the two to avoid damaging the cables.

Prying open the back panel doesn't reveal much of the internal structure. There is a large black component with the Apple logo, but the two buttons used to remove the Apple Watch band fell out and three of the four springs fell onto the carpet.
