Apple Apple Watch Ultra disassembled, extremely difficult to recover

With the watch's back plate removed, the watch did not immediately report an error, but it was no longer able to connect to the phone. There are three more screws, this time triple-wing screws, and small metal plates holding that black component in place, and removing those screws reveals what appears to be multiple ribbon cables attached to the other side of it, and looking at the back of the watch, there doesn't appear to be a good way to disconnect them, possibly requiring a softening adhesive to remove the display and then separating it with an aperture cutter, something that was accessible on previous Apple Watches internal parts, but the display seam on the Ultra doesn't seem to have a good way to open it. The Apple Watch Ultra's display is sapphire, which is more scratch-resistant but potentially more prone to breakage, which may be part of the reason Apple extended the watch's metal body to the flat sides of the display.

At this point the editor tried to put everything back together as best he could, but found it rather difficult to reinstall the two ribbon cables attached to the bottom of the device. The button used to remove the band is also now missing the aforementioned missing spring, and the watch rattles with vibrations. Also, the small rubber O-ring around the screw is sticking out a bit. With the O-ring out of place and the adhesive seal broken, the water resistance of the watch has been severely reduced and it certainly can't be worn for diving.

Therefore, the editor recommends that regular users never disassemble their Apple Watch Ultra watches out of curiosity, as it will likely also cause a serious drop in its water resistance.
