Amazon Alexa voice assistant turns into a "salesman" as it answers your questions with ads
It was previously reported that Amazon and third-party service providers were collecting voice data from customer interactions with Alexa through speakers, TVs and other devices and sharing it with 41 advertising partners, according to a report released in April this year. But an Amazon spokesperson denied the news.
Second, advertising voice assistant + marketing emails, Amazon marketing overkill fear counterproductive
The company also announced another feature - Tailored Audiences - at its annual seller conference Amazon Accelerate, also for advertising and marketing purposes, in addition to Customers Ask Alexa. The Tailored Audiences feature allows registered brands on Amazon to send marketing emails directly to their customers.
Bloomberg commented on the matter, saying that this could backfire, especially when these marketing emails are used in conjunction with Alexa's ad pitches, and that customers may instead resent the product being promoted.
The company's newest product, the Amazon Echo, is a new product that will be available for sale in the Amazon marketplace. It is estimated that at least tens of millions of Alexa users worldwide do not shop through the voice assistant. eMarketer's survey data shows that only 10.8% of customers will shop online through Alexa in 2020.
Conclusion: Two new features to help Amazon marketing
Amazon's annual seller conference (Amazon Accelerate conference) is one of Amazon's key events, which is designed to help small third-party sellers better sell digitally.
More than 1,800 merchants participated in the Accelerate conference during the new crown, said Jeff Wilke, Amazon's global consumer CEO. Amazon data shows that third-party sellers account for about 60 percent of Amazon's physical sales.
And Amazon launched two new features Customers Ask Alexa and Tailored Audiences may help third-party brands promote their products, but it remains to be seen whether this will achieve the opposite effect.
