In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman writes that an event expected to take place in early September is already in production, which means Apple is planning another pre-recorded virtual event.

Apple held its WWDC 2022 event in June, and while the event wasn't entirely online, a very limited number of people were on hand at Apple Park, Apple's headquarters, to watch the keynote video and experience the new products first-hand.

Gurman said Apple may be planning two events this fall, similar to the past few years. the September event will focus on the new iPhone and Apple Watch, while the second event in October will focus on the Mac and iPad.

According to previous reports, in addition to the new iPhone and Apple Watch, Apple is also planning to release a new iPad Pro, a second generation of AirPods Pro and more.

Gurman also said that Apple has been working on an M1 Pro version of Mac mini, which was originally scheduled to launch later last year or at the end of this year, but as he understands it, "the M1 Pro is now off the table" and that the new Mac mini is expected to feature the M2 and M2 Pro chips, with no major design changes. There will be no major design changes.

This news is consistent with 9to5Mac's sources, which say that the new Mac mini is expected to be codenamed J473, with the M2 Ultra chip reserved for the Mac Pro.

Finally, Gurman says Apple is considering a refresh of the HomePod mini, with plans for a larger entry into the home device market and a new version of the full-size HomePod planned for early 2023.
