By    20 Jul,2022

Back in iOS 13, a group of hackers discovered an "unpatchable" vulnerability that allowed iPhones and iPads with the A11 Bionic and all previous A-series chips to be permanently jailbroken. 2021, another jailbreak tool brought support for iPhone 12 running iOS 14. In 2021, another jailbreak brought support for newer devices like the iPhone 12 running iOS 14. Now we're getting close to the first jailbreak tool compatible with iOS 15.

The Odyssey Team group, which already provides jailbreak solutions for iPhones and iPads running previous versions of iOS, has shared the first images of a new jailbreak tool called "Cheyote" that will work with iOS 15.

One of the Odyssey Team developers confirmed on Reddit that the developers are "making good progress" on the tool and that it should be released to the public "in the near future. However, the Cheyote tool has some limitations and only works with iOS 15.0 to iOS 15.1.1, which was released in November 2021.

The team says it has been working on expanding support for versions of iOS below 15.4.1, but it will take longer. That's because Apple has made internal changes to iOS that make jailbreaking the latest version of the operating system more difficult.

Once Cheyote is released to the public, it will be the first jailbreak tool for the iPhone 13 series and also for iPad mini 6, as these devices come with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 pre-installed.

With iOS 16 expected to be officially released in September, it seems that the jailbreak tool for iOS 15 is no longer as interesting at this point.
