Cook: Apple will continue to hire employees in a more cautious manner and carefully consider spending decisions
Apple Inc. today reported results for its fiscal third quarter of 2022 that were slightly above analysts' expectations.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Apple CEO Tim Cook said "Apple will hire in a very 'deliberate way'": "We're making deliberate decisions about where we're going to invest our money. But we'll continue to hire, but we're just doing it in a very deliberate way."
Apple has plans to slow down the pace of hiring due to fears of a recession. Apple plans to slow down the pace of hiring and spending growth, focusing only on key positions.
In addition, Cook said in an interview that the company would "carefully" consider spending decisions in a slowing economy.
"We believe in investing in downturns, and we always have. We've always found that it makes us stronger on the other side." That's the mindset we're approaching this downturn with," Cook said. Obviously, we're thoughtful in deciding where to invest."
