Tesla to announce new developments in its own AI chip soon, sources say
The agenda for next week's Silicon Valley chip technology symposium HOT CHIPS shows that Tesla will be giving a number of talks at the event on its Dojo project, its own AI chip.
Tesla hardware engineer Emil Talpes will speak on "Dojo, the microarchitecture for Tesla's E-class supercomputing", while Bill Chang, lead systems engineer at Dojo, will follow with a talk on "Dojo, scaling supercomputing systems for machine learning training".
The Dojo project previously revealed information about an AI chip codenamed D1 in August last year, and more details are expected to be revealed at the workshop next week.
Tesla has now built a supercomputing cluster based on Nvidia's A100 GPUs, which according to the latest information, currently inherits a total of 7,360 A100 GPUs, an increase of nearly 28% from its earliest announced size.
