A lower-performance, single-motor electric model, the eDrive35 is also one of BMW's cheapest electric cars, at least a few thousand dollars cheaper than the other models in the eDrive40.

IT House has learned that the BMW i4 is the flagship model of the German car company, which is now making a firm but slow transition to pure electric vehicles. BMW expects to reach a 50 percent share of trams by 2030.

BMW launched the i4 range last year with two different versions of the compact sedan - the eDrive40 and M50 - followed by models such as the iX SUV, while the more expensive i7 range is scheduled for delivery in the US by the end of 2022.

It's worth noting that BMW has also promised an electrified version of the X1 range, which is expected to be the most affordable electric car in the BMW range. So far, however, the i4 still holds the title of cheapest model.

Now BMW has launched a third model in the i4 range - the i4 eDrive35 - priced even lower than the previous eDrive40 at a starting price of $51,400 (approx. RMB 348,000), with an eDrive all-electric powertrain featuring an electric rear axle motor with a 70.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack. With a range of 490 kilometres, the BMW iDrive40 is priced at $51,400.

According to the official description, the i4 eDrive35 uses the same fifth-generation eDrive all-electric powertrain as the iX and i4 models, but with a smaller 70.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack (83.9 kWh for the eDrive40) and a rear-axle electric motor for 285 hp / 400 N-m power output.
