Musk congratulates Tesla on reaching 1 million cars at its Shanghai plant and 3 million worldwide
Tesla has produced more than three million cars, including one million at its Shanghai super plant, CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday.
"Congratulations to the Shanghai plant for rolling off the production line of its one millionth vehicle. Tesla's total vehicle production has now surpassed 3 million." Musk said.
Just before Musk celebrated the milestone, Tesla's car deliveries had been on the rise in recent quarters. The company said in July that it delivered 254,695,000 vehicles in the second quarter, up 26.5 per cent year-on-year. But Tesla's production remains small compared to traditional automotive giants. Toyota, for example, will deliver more than 10 million vehicles in 2021 alone. Tesla said earlier this year that it plans to increase car deliveries by 50 per cent each year.
