Apple calls for at least 90 million iPhone 14 / Pro series phones as demand continues to be strong, sources say
Apple does not expect iPhone sales to decline in 2022 despite the overall slowdown in the smartphone market, according to Bloomberg. Apple expects demand for the iPhone to remain strong and has asked suppliers to produce 90 million iPhone 14 models, which is comparable to the production of iPhone 13 in the same period last year.

Apple expects to produce a total of around 220 million iPhones in 2022, which is in line with production in 2021. The sources say Apple can weather the downturn in the smartphone market because Apple's customer base is still willing to pay for high-end devices.
The new "iPhone" launch saw Apple build around 75 million devices before 2021. This number soars to 90 million by 2021 as the company expects high demand for the iPhone 13 series models, and Apple will stick to this target level in 2022.
While the standard iPhone 14 model is expected to remain virtually unchanged, the high-end iPhone 14 Pro model will feature a new non-bangscreen design (pill + new perforated design), an upgraded 48-megapixel camera, a faster A16 chip, an AOD rest screen display and more.
Rumours are now circulating that iPhone 14 Pro models could start at a higher price than iPhone 13 Pro models, raising the average price of the 2022 iPhone 14 range. Apple has not provided revenue guidance since 2020, but Apple CFO Luca Maestri said in the company's second quarter earnings report that revenue growth is expected to accelerate in the September quarter and supply constraints are expected to be better than in the June quarter.
