Apple pushes new firmware 19F80 for Studio Display "iOS 15.5": fixes speaker issue
Apple today released firmware update 19F80 for the Studio Display "iOS 15.5", more than two months after the last firmware update for the Studio Display. The previous version of the 15.5 firmware had an internal version number of 19F77, and Apple claims to have tweaked the camera to provide better noise reduction, contrast and framing. Previous tests claimed that the Studio Display came pre-installed with "iOS 15.4".
Apple's update release notes confirm that the Studio Display speaker issue has been resolved. Since the launch of the Studio Display, there have been complaints about the quality of the speakers. Apple sent a memo to authorised service providers last week acknowledging that some customers were experiencing issues with the Studio Display speakers interrupting or providing distorted playback.
In the memo, Apple said that a future update would address the issue, hence the release of today's firmware update.
The Studio Display firmware can be updated by connecting it to a Mac device. Studio Display users can install this firmware by going to System Preferences > Software Update.
