Foxconn expands existing factory in India to produce more iPhones for Apple
According to the Economic Times of India, Foxconn has expanded its existing TamilNadu plant in India to produce more Apple iPhones in the country.
In April this year, the media outlet also said that part of Foxconn's factory near Chennai in India had been approved by the Indian authorities, allowing for an increase in workforce to meet the country's growing demand for iPhones. The Indian government has approved Apple's application for the use of 40 acres of land for the Foxconn factory premises operating within the Chennai Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
"We are excited to be in India for local customers... begin production of iPhone 13," said an Apple India spokesperson.

Products previously manufactured in the SEZ will be exported overseas to benefit from tariff concessions. With the designation, the area will be considered India's DTA (Domestic Tariff Area), allowing Foxconn to increase its workforce and boost production to meet local demand as iPhone shipments from India continue to grow.
On the other hand, Foxconn has been improving living conditions in its staff quarters following the food poisoning incident that led to months of production stoppages, and all of Foxconn's quarters should be approved. Foxconn will reopen in the first week of May.
As Apple's supply chain from China to India and Vietnam becomes increasingly diversified, Apple has begun production of iPhone 13 at Foxconn's India plant. in addition, demand for iPhones in India is on the rise. idc data shows that 4.77 million iPhones will be shipped in 2021, a record for Apple in India.
This production plan means that all of Apple's best-selling models are now made locally through two OEMs, Foxconn and Wistron.
Foxconn's production line is located in a small town called Sriperumbudur in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
