TrendForce: Micron Japan plant power outage, the estimated size of the affected capacity is limited
Yesterday, Micron disclosed that its DRAM manufacturing facility in Hiroshima, Japan experienced an unexpected power outage on July 8, 2022, and is currently assessing the impact on near-term supply.
According to the latest research report from TrendForce, Micron's sudden power outage is expected to have a limited impact on capacity.
TrendForce points out that, in terms of global production capacity, the plant's chip production ratio is about 7%. The main process in production is 1Z nm, which accounts for more than 50% of the total, followed by 1Y nm, which also accounts for nearly 35%. As the power jump occurs when the machine starts the non-stop system at the same time, but due to the voltage drop, the machine needs to restart and check, and the power jump time is about 5~10 minutes, so the affected capacity is limited.
