The first self-driving logistics line in China is coming: only running unmanned trucks, operating in 2025

Today Robotruck (CORAGE) announced its participation in the construction of the world's first dedicated self-driving trunk logistics road, the "Jiuquan-Mingshui Green Digital Highway", and the upcoming launch of a self-driving trunk logistics road test and preparation for operation. The company will soon start the road test and prepare for the operation of long-distance scenarios of self-driving logistics.

The 430-kilometer-long special line, planned and designed by China Communications Construction Group, is the first self-driving trunk logistics line in China. The line will be a closed road and will be put into commercial operation in 2025, and the vehicles will be fully driverless hydrogen heavy trucks.


At present, there are about 40 million commercial vehicles in China, accounting for 10.9% of the total number of vehicles in the country, but their carbon emissions account for nearly 65% of all vehicle carbon emissions, of which heavy trucks account for 83.5%, making them the key vehicles in carbon emission reduction.


After the line is put into operation, it will further promote the development of autonomous driving and new energy commercial vehicles, and truly open up the commercialization of autonomous driving in the trillion-dollar market of trunk logistics.


In addition, the construction of this special autonomous driving line has also brought to the surface a start-up company, Karvy Smart. The company was founded by Tong Xianqiao, a serial entrepreneur in the autonomous driving industry, who previously served as the CEO of Roadstar, and then left Roadstar to start his own business again and enter the Robotruck market.

A. The special line will run hydrogen heavy trucks, and CarrySmart surfaced

The project of "Jiuquan-Mingshui Green Digital Highway" (hereinafter referred to as Jiu Ming Highway), in the hinterland of Hexi Corridor, is located in the desert uninhabited area with flat terrain, and the local area is rich in renewable energy of light, wind and electricity, which can realize the manufacture of green hydrogen at low cost.


With the unique natural environment, it can also accelerate the implementation of autonomous driving technology.


First of all, the whole special line is a closed road, and the project plans to use hydrogen heavy trucks on this road, and to build hydrogen refueling stations and transfer yards at the end of the road.
