Officially confirmed, Canada
At Tesla's annual meeting on Aug. 4, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Tesla may announce plans to build more factories this year, and he expects Tesla to eventually have 10 to 12 giant factories.
Musk has hinted at his preference for Canada as a site for new factories. He told shareholders at Tesla's annual meeting, "We have a lot of Canadians, I'm half Canadian, maybe I should (build a factory in Canada)?"
Canadian Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne said in a media interview that he is in talks with Tesla and other automakers, Reuters reported today. He said, "I think Canada is becoming the preferred place for the automotive industry and the aerospace industry to grow." When asked about Tesla's plans to build a factory in Canada, he said, "Yes, I'm in talks with them, and I'm in talks with other automakers."
The minister visited the Tesla Tesla factory in August this year, and after his tour of the factory, he shared a video saying, "Every Tesla has a Canadian shadow"
As previously reported by IT House, Tesla is hiring HR in Montreal, Canada, which will be responsible for hiring a large number of employees. Unlike normal HR, Tesla is only hiring such HR in places where it has already established a super factory, such as Texas, USA and Berlin, Germany. So, this implies that Tesla will build a new super factory in Montreal, Canada.
