Munro Live, a car teardown & analysis specialist, recently released the first installment of the Texas-made, 4680 CTC battery-chassis-integrated Tesla Modle Y teardown video, which has some very interesting technical details, together with a look at it.

The video shows that the seats, center console and carpet / trim, etc. are all connected to the new battery pack and removed together for the first time in the automotive industry, helping to significantly improve production efficiency. Another benefit of the high level of integration is the significant weight reduction. 4680 CTC Model Y's entire battery pack + high and low voltage + center console + seats + carpet weighs only 544kg, as a comparison, BYD Corsair, which also uses CTC technology, weighs 560/558kg for a single 82.56 kWh battery pack.

In addition, the center console features a sliding rail mount for easier assembly and can be fixed with two screws. Various parts are very well integrated with the giant casting parts (front and rear) to further reduce the number of parts, lower costs and improve assembly efficiency.

IT Home has learned that the Model Y produced in the Texas factory is currently the most advanced product in Tesla's portfolio. It uses three cutting-edge technologies: CTC technology (a technology that mounts the electric cell directly to the chassis), 4680 battery and one-piece die-casting, which can significantly reduce the difficulty and cost of vehicle production and assembly, and improve performance.
