According to ET News, the rumored Apple MR headset is scheduled to launch in early 2023, but a second generation with significant upgrades is already in development and is scheduled for release in 2024.

Sources say Apple's MR headset will be released in early 2023, with a lighter second-generation version with calling capabilities coming in 2024

Suppliers are reportedly preparing to start mass production in the fourth quarter of this year ahead of the launch of Apple's MR headset early next year, but initial production is not expected to be significant. Apple's MR headset features a micro-OLED display from Sony and LG Display, which offers a thin design and high power efficiency, as well as three 3D sensing modules from LG Innotek, including a low- to mid-range camera from a Chinese supplier.

The MR headset will focus on entertainment and gaming, and will also serve as a test supply for a better second-generation product. The report says Apple's second-generation MR headset is scheduled for release in 2024 and will feature a lighter design, the ability to make phone calls and an ultra-high-definition camera from LG Innotek.

The second-generation Apple AR/MR headset could be divided into two models by price point and is expected to be available in the first half of 2025. Suppliers of the headset will begin shipping in the second half of 2024. Meanwhile, Apple's AR / MR headset shipments could reach 10 million units by 2025 or 2026 at the earliest, thanks to the positioning strategy of two high and two low models of the 2nd generation Apple AR / MR headset.
